  2. Connect QuickBooks Online.

Connect your QuickBooks Online account on Puzzle's Integrations page. Puzzle gets read-only access and changes nothing in QuickBooks.

Puzzle prepares a chart of accounts mapping from your old system to Puzzle's chart of accounts. You or your accountant review it.

  4. Approve the mapping, and your history comes in.

How long does a QuickBooks migration take, and what does it cost?

Simple migrations usually take about 3–5 business days. Most conversions take around 5–7 business days, and longer if the data is complex.

MigrationTypical timingPrice
Simple migrationAbout 3–5 business days$149 one-time per system migrated
Most conversionsAround 5–7 business days$149 one-time per system migrated

Should you clean up QuickBooks before migrating?

It depends on how far back the problems go:

Less than six months behind

Clean up inside QuickBooks first, then migrate.

Years of unreconciled accounts

Set a clean go-live date. After you approve the chart of accounts mapping, your history comes over as monthly summary journal entries, so your P&L and balance sheet match month by month. Keep QuickBooks as a read-only archive.

Need help catching up? Puzzle catch-up bookkeeping starts at $300 per month of books. See accounting services.

Can I cancel QuickBooks after migrating?

Yes, it's optional. Puzzle keeps your historical QuickBooks reports (Trial Balance, P&L and Balance Sheet) under QuickBooks Historical Financials, so they stay available if you cancel. Changes you make in QuickBooks after the migration don't flow into Puzzle, but Puzzle can adjust balances and mappings on request.

Our migration guide recommends keeping QuickBooks read-only for 60 to 90 days after go-live. See the help article.
