Commenda was built to absorb that complexity for founders. But to do it, they needed accurate books first. And their US accounting operation was reaching its limits.
With 150 US clients requiring accounting and tax support, a team of 25 people, Commenda needed to scale without hiring. They tried QuickBooks and Xero automations. They evaluated other tools entering the accounting automation space. None met the requirements to support their clients.

Commenda found what it needed in Puzzle. The implementation was simple: when a new client is onboarded to Commenda, they are simultaneously added to Puzzle in a white-label setup. The client logs in once, connects their modern financial stack (Mercury, Brex, Rippling, SaaS payroll tools), and the data begins flowing.
Because Puzzle is an AI-native ledger, it categorizes the high-volume, repetitive transactions, so the CPA reviews instead of enters. This allows the CPA to focus on review and accounting judgment.

Commenda went further. Using their ERP integration tool, they integrated Puzzle directly into the Commenda platform. Now the cash flow statement, balance sheet, and P&L pull directly from Puzzle into the Commenda dashboard. Clients never log into Puzzle directly. They connect their accounts once and the books run in the background.

Puzzle takes the repetitive accounting work off the CPA's plate while keeping the accountant in control. For Commenda, that meant one CPA could support nearly 50 clients without adding headcount.
One CPA now handles nearly 50 clients at once, completing annual accounting for all of them in a span of just 15 to 20 days. What previously would have required additional hiring was completed in less than half the time.

Beyond the software, Commenda also values the partnership. When their CPA encounters a new nuance or needs a feature, he requests it via Slack. The Puzzle team delivers a fix or a new feature, often telling them the feature was already in beta and their request accelerated the launch.
