Founders, you asked, and we listened! We know time is valuable, especially at this stage.
That's why we made your most requested features our top priority.
We're excited to unveil a set of new features based on popular demand! 🎉
Starting with Puzzle’s very own AI Categorizer. Get ready to make your life a whole lot easier.
TLDR:
Until now, Puzzle has auto-categorized up to 98% of your transactions. The remaining transactions have always required an eye for review, and from what you told us, it's not always clear how to categorize items correctly.

To access this feature, opt into “Autonomous accounting” in Company Settings.
AI-native accounting isn't experimental anymore: it's the expectation. According to the Sage AI in Accounting Report, 46% of accountants now use AI tools daily, up from just 18% in 2023. Agentic AI (software that handles targeted finance tasks autonomously) has gone from a buzzword to a baseline. Founders who are still manually categorizing transactions or chasing down missing context are losing time and falling behind a standard their investors and auditors are starting to assume. Puzzle's AI Categorizer is built for exactly this moment: less time on clean-up, more time on decisions that actually move the business forward.
| Feature | What it does | How to access |
|---|---|---|
| AI Categorizer | Auto-categorizes up to 98% of transactions; emails you plain-English prompts for the rest | Turn on "Autonomous accounting" in Company Settings |
| Metric Trend Charts | Dashboard charts for burn, cash, runway, revenue, and spend trends over time | Available on your Puzzle dashboard at login |
| Ask An Accountant | Get answers to tax or accounting questions from an expert CPA on the Puzzle team | No hourly fee; available directly in the app |
| Ramp Bill Sync | Bills from Ramp sync into Puzzle; cash payments are automatically matched and recorded | Re-connect your Ramp integration in Settings |

Receive Puzzle complimentary for 1 month for every user you refer! We take care of migrating their books to Puzzle from QBO, Xero, Excel, and more. All you have to do is email our Head of Customer Success Luke at luke@puzzle.io with their contact info - so that he can make sure to give them (and you!) a special token of appreciation.
Yes, that's exactly what Puzzle's AI Categorizer is built to do. Puzzle auto-categorizes up to 98% of transactions the moment they come in from your connected bank feeds and integrations. For the small percentage that need extra context, the AI sends you a plain-English email prompt; you reply once, and it handles the rest. You don't need to log in to keep your books moving. Turn on "Autonomous accounting" in Company Settings and Puzzle runs the close process on a schedule: your burn, runway, and cash balances stay current without daily check-ins.
Puzzle's partner model is designed for exactly this. Because Puzzle auto-categorizes the vast majority of transactions and surfaces only the edge cases that need human judgment, your team spends time on advisory work, not data entry. Onboarding a new client doesn't multiply your team's workload the way it does in legacy tools: Puzzle migrates books from QuickBooks, Xero, and Excel, and the AI picks up categorization from day one. The result is more clients on your roster without a proportional headcount increase. Reach out to our team to learn about Puzzle's accounting firm partner program.
Quite a bit. The AI Categorizer handles transaction categorization end-to-end: it ingests your bank feeds, auto-categorizes up to 98% of transactions on arrival, and emails you plain-English prompts for the edge cases that need a quick reply. Beyond categorization, Puzzle's AI can split transactions, flag potential fixed assets for review, and surface burn, runway, and cash trends in real time. Switch on "Autonomous accounting" in Company Settings and the AI runs your close checklist on a schedule: no daily login required.
For payroll providers without a native Puzzle integration (such as ADP), you can upload payroll reports or PDFs and use Puzzle's AI to help map and post the journal entries. The AI parses the payroll data and suggests the correct debit/credit entries across wages, taxes, and benefits accounts. You review and approve before anything hits the books, keeping you in control while cutting the manual entry work by a large margin.
QuickBooks was built for a pre-cloud, pre-AI era and retrofitted with automation over time. Puzzle was built AI-native from day one. In practice: transactions are categorized automatically as they arrive (not in a monthly batch), your burn and runway update daily without manual closes, and the AI handles the edge cases that would otherwise land in your accountant's inbox. The QuickBooks subscription is the cheap part; the expensive part is the hours your team spends every month forcing it to behave. Puzzle changes that equation.
When you connect a bank that has both personal and business accounts under one login, Puzzle imports all accounts it can see. You then select which accounts belong to the business and exclude the rest. Any transactions incorrectly imported can be removed directly from the transaction list: select the transaction, mark it as personal or out-of-scope, and Puzzle excludes it from your books going forward. Only business accounts remain in your ledger.
Puzzle supports multi-entity setups: each entity gets its own books, integrations, and close workflow. Consolidated reporting across entities is on the roadmap. If you're running multiple funds, subsidiaries, or portfolio companies and need a single financial view, reach out to the team to discuss your setup and what's available today.
